How to Find Keywords

There are 2 ways to research keywords:

  • Search by Keywords - enter keywords one at a time or enter multiple keywords (separated by commas)
  • Search by Domain - enter a URL and we'll fetch all keywords the site ranks for

You can also set your country (we support 70 countries) or you can select "Any Country" which searches internationally across countries and languages. Countries that specifically have Google operating in multiple languages (ie: Canada) have the option to refine and filter by language.

In the example below, we're searching for multiple keywords in the United States. The results returned show the highest monthly search volume on those terms or related terms which use the same keyword. For example, one of the keywords we searched for was "malbec" which returned 33,100 monthly searches, while the term "wine malbec" was additionally returned and shows 22,200 monthly searches:

We also list CPC (Cost Per Click) which is an indicator in USD of what the estimated cost would be on this keyword if you were to use Google Ads to bid on these terms.

Finally, we list the level of competition on each keyword: Low, Medium and High. Ideally you want to find keywords with high monthly search volume and Low competition.

Each keyword has a blue "Results" button on the right side of the table which opens the search results for that keyword in your selected Country. This is a great way to view the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) for each keyword (especially if you are researching keywords in other countries).

The last column "Track" contains checkboxes for each keyword, which enables you to add any selected keywords into your Keyword Tracking lists so you can monitor your performance over time.

Once you have ticked the keywords you want to track, hit the orange "Track" button at the bottom of the list and the overlay will show you sites you've already set up in Keyword Tracking. In the example below you can see there are 3 sites already set up in Keyword Tracking. You can simply select one of these sites and the selected keywords will be added to your Keyword Tracking. OR you can track the keywords for a new website too:

As with most data tables in SEOptimer, you can export all the table data to CSV, Excel or PDF from the buttons at the top of the table, or search within the table to filter certain keywords (espeically handy if you have lots of results like in the example above).

The second way to use the Keyword Research Tool is to Search by Domain and enter a URL:

Keyword Tracking by Domain

Similar to when searching by keywords, this search method can be done on a single country or Any Country. In addition to Monthly Search Volume and Competition, we also list Position and Estimated Traffic. Since you are searching by domain we can determine the Position on the SERP of any page within the domain. Then, based on the Monthly Search Volume, we can provide an Estimated Traffic number.

Within this view, you can also open the SERP or select multiple Keywords to add to Keyword Tracking.
